I am a very1 adult chess enjoyer, player, improver, dabbler, enthusiast.

I am on a quest, of sorts, re-learning chess after “sudden onset” aphantasia following a series of neurological treatments, but with a specific, intentional focus on enjoyment and using the game2 as a tool for promoting emotional well-being.

That’s what this site is about, though I have an interest and a modicum of skill in a great many things, including:

  • Cruciverbalism
  • Armchair etymology
  • Folding origami
  • Tea3 and coffee4
  • Poetry (reading and writing)
  • Learning design
  • Teaching (university level and incarcerated students)

  4. I’m a coffee snob when I can be, with all the accoutrement, but I’m not a stranger to the Starbucks Café or the countertop Keurig. ↩︎
